The father of a fugitive suspected of murdering his own mother has made an impassioned plea for him to give himself up.
Michael Cane, whose son Andrew is on the run after being named by police as a suspect following the death of his 63-year-old mother, Linda Sheard, on Wednesday evening, made a direct plea to him tonight.
Speaking from Exeter, Mr Cane said: "Please give yourself up to police.
"What has been done cannot be undone. The longer this goes on the more grief you are causing to the family, especially to your sister, brothers and your own children.

"I just want to ask you to please give yourself up to police. You will be treated properly and fairly and at some stage I hope that I will be able to speak to you."
Ms Sheard's body was found at an address in Port Mer Close, Brixington, near Exmouth, at around 7.10pm on Wednesday.
Police initially said they wanted to trace Cane, 30, but later confirmed him as a murder suspect.
A blue Honda Civic, believed to have been used by Cane, was found in Bristol yesterday morning. It had been abandoned next to the A4, police said.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said Cane could be "anywhere in the country".
"He is described as being a white man, 6’ 2” in height clean shaven with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket with a white top underneath, blue jeans and white trainers," police said.
