Former Boyzone star Ronan Keating insists he feels like a failure after the breakdown of his 14-year marriage.
The singer broke up with Yvonne last December, and went public with their split in April. It followed reports that he had an affair with a dancer.
Heartbroken Keating shed weight and turned to booze following their breakdown, and admits he's struggling with the single life.
He told The Sun on Sunday: "Nobody wants to go through a relationship and have kids and think it'll ever break up. I see myself as a failure. It's been devastating for the children."
"Yvonne and I drifted apart - it wasn't working anymore, sadly. We obviously don't have the closeness we used to have.
That's the hardest thing to bear. I'm a free spirit for the first time in years, but I didn't want that. I liked being in a relationship."
He still has a close friendship with his ex for the sake of their three children - Jack, 13, Marie, 11, and Ali, six.
Keating is hoping music will make his heartbreak go away - he is plotting his chart comeback with Fires, his first album of original material in six years.
He said: "The album is back to proper pop again. I've been working with the guys behind Life Is A Rollercoaster again (Greg Alexander). I've been spending my time getting this album just right and I'm excited about people hearing it."
