Labour backbencher Paul Flynn was kicked out of the Commons chamber on Tuesday afternoon after he called defence secretary a liar.
The anti-war MP said British soldiers were being used as "human shields for ministers' reputations" and should be withdrawn from Afghanistan immediately as all they were doing was "arming our future enemy".
"Isn't this very similair to the end of the First World War when it was said that politicians lied and soldiers died and the reality was, as it is now, that our brave soldiers lions are being led by ministerial donkeys," he said.
Flynn refused to withdraw the accusation that Philip Hammond had lied, which is banned, and said he stood by his remarks.
"I have to insist on retaining my accusation of lying, that is far more important than allowing a group of people to send our soldiers to die in vain in a war in which should withdraw," he said.
The scene in the Commons chamber unfolded after Hammond had been dragged infront of MPs to explain a new policy that would see Nato troops and their Afghan counterparts axe joint routine patrols and only launch big strike missions.
The defence secretary said Flynn's accusation was "scandalous".
