Staff at the French chateau where Prince William’s wife Kate was photographed topless are to be quizzed by police, it is reported.
Detectives want to know how the snapper knew exactly how to capture the shots – despite being more than half a mile away from the property.
The Duchess of Cambridge was photographed topless at a French chateau
The news comes amid continuing speculation as to the identity of the photographer, who has been identified by one source as a British man living in the south of France.
French paparazzo Pascal Rostain told the France Metro paper: “The irony of this whole thing is that the photographer is an Englishman living in the south of France.
“Theses photos were taken on the orders of Closer, who asked him to sit around for several days to take them. For his efforts he did not earn a lot.
“He was just paid wages for going to take them.”
French photographer Valerie Suau has admitted taking pictures of the Duchess, but insists the snaps she took were of Kate in her bikini, and not topless. Suau's pictures, which were published in France's La Provence regional paper are "all decent", she said.

A colleague of Ms Suau told the Mail Online: "She says she was given free rein to do what she liked - taking pictures of the couple enjoying themselves in full view of the road.
"There were other people around, including walkers and cyclists, as well as staff at the chateau.
"The Duchess was sure to have known this, and perhaps should have been a bit more careful about displaying her body in such a prominent position."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge earlier launched legal action for breach of privacy against the publishers of Closer magazine in France after it published the topless pictures of Kate.
The pictures were taken last week while the couple were staying in Provence at a chateau owned by Lord Linley, the Queen's nephew, ahead of their Diamond Jubilee tour of the Far East.
