His 13th match against the Citizens was a lucky one too, as his dipping shot evaded Vincent Kompany and went through Joe Hart to give Real Madrid a stoppage-time winner in their opening Champions League fixture back in September.
Nearly three-and-a-half-years after he left Manchester for Madrid, Ronaldo is back ahead of Wednesday night's encounter at the Ethiad Stadium where anything but a win for City will see them eliminated from the competition at the group stage for a second successive season. Should it be Ronaldo performing the execution the schadenfreude will broaden the gleeful smiles of the spectators from the red half of Manchester.
