Katie Holmes' Broadway Play Dead Accounts Is Axed

Dead In The Water

It hasn't been the best year for Katie Holmes. First, she split with action hubby Tom Cruise in June and now it looks as though she's done with Broadway too.

Just when she thought she'd finally shed her doe-eyed Joey Potter days and proved that she was a serious actress, poor old Katie's play Dead Accounts has been axed early.

The show, which premiered to mixed reviews at the Music Box Theatre in New York last month, will now end on 6 January, seven weeks ahead of its scheduled 24 February closure.

Not even the gorgeous Katie could save the day and things were apparently so bad that last week, only 38% of the seats were filled, making it the worst performing show on Broadway - eek!

Jeffry Finn, the show's producer, told BroadwayWorld.com: "I am extremely proud of this production and the cast. Theresa Rebeck (writer) and Jack O'Brien (director) have created an inspiring and hilarious new play and we are all sad to see Dead Accounts end on Broadway. I look forward to working with this remarkably talented cast and creative team again very soon."

However, Suri's mum isn't the only star whose play was panned - Happy Days legend Henry Winkler's play The Performers closed after just five days last month. Clearly no one wanted to see The Fonz as an ageing porn star... the mind boggles!
