Schoolgirl Stabbed To Death On Bus In Birmingham

A 16-year-old school girl has been killed after being stabbed on a bus in Birmingham.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry following the attack on the bus on the Hagley Road leading out of the city.

Police officers flooded the scene

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to an emergency on board a bus in Edgbaston shortly after 7.35am.

The victim died at the scene.

A suspect was earlier detained in connection with the stabbing but has now been released, West Midlands Police said.

They have launched a manhunt for a black male in his late teens or early 20s.

There were as many as nine police cars and an ambulance

A spokesman said: "At 7.37am today police received a call from a member of the public reporting that a passenger had been attacked.

"Officers and other emergency services were immediately dispatched but it was clear that nothing could be done to save the victim.

"West Midlands Police have identified the victim's family and are in the process of breaking the sad news."
