ITV's beleaguered football coverage has included showing adverts instead of goals and having England internationals pose for Polaroids. And on Tuesday night their lack of commitment to Champions League football saw them cut short José Mourinho when on the cusp of a potential mega exclusive.
Mourinho's Real Madrid had just been eliminated by Borussia Dortmund for a third consecutive Champions League semi-final loss when ITV's Gabriel Clarke collared him.
After some thoughts on Madrid's 4-3 aggregate defeat, Clarke suggested he may have better luck with Madrid next year.
"Maybe not," Mourinho replied.
"I want to be where I love to be, where people love me to be..."
"I'll take that as England, I've got to go," Clarke replied.
And so we were treated to an advert for Natwest's emergency cash service, amongst others.
Just like in The Day Today, ITV lost the news...
