Vladimir Putin scored some pretty massive international political points today when Syria agreed to put its chemical weapons under international control.

This was of course a proposal from the Russians, desperately trying to seek a solution to a crisis that is becoming more and more intractable.

Presumably Barack Obama is a little jealous that Putin's idea has been grasped upon when his own preferred option of a military strike is floundering in Congress.
