In yet another bizarre yet welcome dénouement to Newsnight, Jeremy Paxman, once the most feared political interviewer in the land (before Andrew Neil established himself as a permanent presence on British TV), ended the show by displaying a set of (fake) tattoos across both hands.
Why? Just a visual jibe at his BBC colleague David Dimbleby, who made headlines this week for having a scorpion inked on his shoulder at the age of 75.
Rumours that Dimbleby will sport a beard on Question Time by way of riposte remain unconfirmed.
