Willem Korsten's time at Tottenham is utterly forgettable with the exception of one meaningless match which has gained significance over the last 12-and-a-half-years. For Korsten is the last Spurs player to score a winner past Manchester United at White Hart Lane.
In May 2001, United were already champions and more concerned about Sir Alex Ferguson's future. He had said that week he would sever all links with the club at the end of the 2001-02 season, but so sour had relations become between Ferguson and the club it could feasibly have been his last match in charge.

Yet he stayed on for another 12 years and did not lose at Tottenham again. In that time, Ferguson faced seven Spurs managers (Glenn Hoddle, David Pleat, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Juande Ramos, Harry Redknapp and André Villas-Boas), won eight and drew four at the Lane.
