A Facebook rift has turned to tragedy after a 15-year-od girl apparently had boiling water thrown in her face by a teenage boy for un-friending him on the social network.
A teen from the Bihar state in northern India, who will not be named because he is underage, is said to have gone to the girl's house on the pretext that he was looking for his lost ID card on Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.
The Hindustan Times reported the the girl’s statement to the police as saying that he shoved her mother aside and then poured boiling water on her face.

"My father is a teacher and he (the accused) used to come for tuitions to our home. I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then," the girl said.
"But of late he had become abusive and so I ‘unfriended’ him last week," she added.
Police are currently on the hunt for the accused.
