Do you believe in climate change? Well, then you are apparently a "global warming Nazi," according to one vocal denier.
Scientist Roy Spencer, who is a professor at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, has said people who use the term "climate deniers" will "kill far more people than the Nazis ever did."
"When politicians and scientists started calling people like me 'deniers', they crossed the line. They are still doing it," he wrote in a rant blog post published yesterday.
"They indirectly equate the sceptics' view that global warming is not necessarily all manmade nor a serious problem, with the denial that the Nazi's extermination of millions of Jews ever happened," he adds.
"Too many of us for too long have ignored the repulsive, extremist nature of the comparison. It's time to push back," he said.
His solution? Start calling everyone who doesn't share his beliefs a Nazi – of course.
Climate activists are, in his words, "anti-capitalist fascists," thus justifying the use of the word 'Nazi,' he said, adding 'I didn’t start the name-calling."
"[They are] willing to sacrifice millions of lives of poor people at the altar of radical environmentalism," he wrote.
"They are just as guilty as the person who cries “fire!” in a crowded theater when no fire exists. Except they threaten the lives of millions of people in the process."
