There are two types of people in this world: those who throw baby showers and those who wince at invitations from mothers-to-be who are, frankly, expecting much more than a baby.
But this couple really take the Rusk biscuit - demanding presents from people they barely know, including those who didn't attend the baby shower and those who didn't come offering gifts.
Parenting site mommyish.com received a letter from one of their readers, who decided not to attend the baby shower of an acquaintance from university.
After the baby shower took place the expectant mother sent the following poem:
We’re sorry you missed the shower!
There was fun and games to be had
The food and drinks not too bad
The loot was a plenty
But we looked high and low and found none from you
Not even a shiny penny!
Babies need a lot
Of this fact we all know
So we’ve included some shops below!
If none are to your liking, and that we understand
Then grab a pen and get to writing
For checks are to our liking!
The *** Family is registered at these stores and checks can be mailed to this address.
If an attendees gift wasn't to the family's liking, the following poem arrived through the letter box:
We loved seeing you at the shower
Remember how the gifts they did tower?
We sorted them for hours
Upon sifting and sorting we noticed something amiss
For your gift didn’t match the list
To fix your situation we listed our stores below
But a check could also help us flow!
Not only is the poem poorly written but whatever happened to the it's-the-thought-that-counts philosophy? Let's just hope their child is raised with better manners.
