'Gone Girl' Trailer: Ben Affleck And Rosamund Pike Star In Big Screen Adaption Of Gillian Flynn's Bestselling Novel (VIDEO)

WATCH: The First Trailer For 'Gone Girl' Is FINALLY Here

There might still be a long wait before the much-awaited film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s ‘Gone Girl’ hits cinemas, but at least we’ve got a taste of what’s to come with this newly released trailer.

The film stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, who is distraught to come home on his wedding anniversary to discover that his wife, Amy - played in the film by Rosamund Pike - has gone mysteriously missing.

The dark trailer shows scenes of Nick and Amy’s deteriorating relationship, interspersed with shots of the investigation following her disappearance, all set to a cover of ‘She’, performed by Richard Butler of The Psychadelic Furs.

The final sinister image shows Amy floating underwater, while her husband is heard saying: “I did not kill my wife. I am not a murderer.”

Chilling stuff, and it’s got us right in the mood for the film’s release - roll on October, we say.

Also starring in ‘Gone Girl’ are Neil Patrick Harris and Emily Ratajkowski, who is making her film debut after rising to prominence as one of the girls in Robin Thicke’s controversial ‘Blurred Lines’ video.

It is directed by David Fincher, whose past directing credits include ‘Fight Club’ and ‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’.

The novel ‘Gone Girl’, which the film is based on, was released to massive critical acclaim, and topped the New York Times Best Seller list for eight weeks. Since its release the book has gone on to sell over two million copies.

‘Gone Girl’ will hit UK cinemas on October 3.
