George Clooney’s mum has expressed her excitement after the news her famous son is engaged.
On Monday it was reported that George had popped the question to British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin after seven months of dating, and it seems that the actor’s mum is a fan of her future daughter-in-law.

Nina Clooney praised Amal to Mail Online, saying: “She’s a lawyer, she is brilliant, she is a very bright woman and at the very top of her career.
“We weren’t at all surprised when they told us they were engaged, and we couldn’t be happier for them.”
Meanwhile, his father Nick was similarly flattering about his son’s new fiancée, telling Us Weekly: “We are thrilled. We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman and these are two great people.”
Since divorcing his first wife Talia Balsam back in 1993, George has been in a number of high-profile relationships with the likes of Stacy Keibler and cocktail waitress Sarah Larson, though he’s always maintained he didn’t want to get married again.
Because the star had been so adamant in the past about not wanting to to settle down, some members of his family have been surprised by the news of his engagement.
His aunt Starla Clooney told Radar Online: “I’m just as surprised as the rest of the world. George was going to be a bachelor his whole life. This woman must be exceptionally special to him for him to take the plunge. He hasn't seen her very long.”
