‘Coronation Street' Star Georgia May Foote: 'I Was Gutted That Leaving 'Corrie' Wasn't My Decision'

'It Was Like Being Dumped'

Georgia May Foote has revealed that she was less than pleased at finding out she was being axed from ‘Coronation Street’, comparing being written out of the soap to being dumped.

Despite being tipped as the next Michelle Keegan, Georgia will leave ‘Corrie’ later this year after four years starring as Katy Armstrong in the show.

Georgia will leave 'Corrie' in late 2014

During a chat with The Mirror, Georgia explained that she was upset that waving goodbye to the cobbles wasn’t her decision, telling the paper: “I was a bit gutted that leaving 'Corrie' wasn’t my decision - it’s like a boyfriend dumping you first - but I’m really excited."

Luckily for Georgia, soap bosses have left the door open for her and unlike Michelle, she isn’t being killed off.

"Katy will not be killed off and the door will be left open for a possible return. We wish Georgia every success with her future career,” ‘Corrie’ boss Stuart Blackburn said in an official statement.

Later this month, Georgia will go up against Michelle in the battle for the Sexiest Female prize at the British Soap Awards.

If Georgia manages to nab the award, it will be the first time since 2008 that someone other than Michelle has won.
