Keira Knightley certainly has a knight in shining armour in Benedict Cumberbatch after he defended her when a film critic insulted her acting.
The actress told Elle magazine that Cumberbatch punched journalist Mark Kermode who described her as 'Ikea Knightley' - implying that she was wooden.
The 29-year-old said: "When I saw him (Benedict) again, I said 'Did you punch a journalist?' and he was like, 'I f***ing did'. Everybody needs a friend like that."
The incident happened a few years ago and even the journalist joked about it in a story in the Metro and later again on Twitter.
In the interview he said: "An actor very gently punched me on air for saying something about Keira Knightley. I called her Ikea Knightley as her acting was so wooden."
He tweeted: "Benedict Cumberbatch did not punch me in the face. He punched me on the arm. In jest. It's on YouTube. And in my book."
The Atonement star married Klaxons singer James Righton in France in May last year in an intimate ceremony with just 12 people in attendance.
The actress was praised for recycling her wedding dress on numerous occasions. However she recently revealed a friend split red wine all over the Chanel number. Devastating, huh?! Well apparently not, Keira was just happy it had been a good night. Speaking about the incident she said: "It's quite impressively splattered. But, hey, a good night is a good night and when a dress has had its time, maybe it's had its time!"
