When we saw Ashanti strut the red carpet in a slightly questionable frock at the MTV Video Music Awards, we couldn't believe our eyes. We thought she'd fallen off the stardom map. Turns out we were totally wrong.
Here's what Ashanti's been up to since her early Noughties heyday and the glory days of 'Foolish':
1. She's been making music...
With Rick Ross. Plus, her fifth studio album, Braveheart, is out this year! How did we miss this one?
2. She went out with Nelly for AGES
Ashanti and Nelly got it on after a press conference for the 2003 Grammy Awards and managed the almost impossible in La La Land, staying together for nine (and a half!) years. Unfortunately, since she vanished from MTV Hits, the pair split. *Sad face*.
3. She picked up a hammer and built a house
In 2009, Ashanti joined the crew of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (don't even pretend you haven't heard of it!) and helped rebuild a New York family's home... proving EVERY celeb ends up on reality telly at some point.
4. She made her acting debut
Remember Coach Carter? Ashanti was in it. John Tucker Must Die? Yeah, she was in that too. Both solid movies. Ahem.
