Obviously, Benedict couldn’t exactly turn around and name himself, but after some careful consideration he choose three men to receive prizes: Tony Benn, Robin Williams and Richard Attenborough.

After naming the deceased labour politician and actors, Benedict explained: “We’ve lost great men this year. So I’d award it to those three.”
Tony Benn, the former labour politician, died in March while Robin and Richard both died in August.
The star-studded event was attended by plenty of A-listers, including Kim Kardashian West, Colin Firth and Pharrell Williams, who all accepted awards.
The event didn’t run completely to plan though, as Kim found out when she realised she’d been presented with Pharrell’s prize instead of her own.
Benedict is currently rehearsing for a BBC production of 'Richard III' and it is believed that he’ll be returning as Sherlock in early 2015.
