Denmark is set to make sex with animals illegal, bringing the country in line with Norway, Sweden and Germany.
The plans were announced by food and agriculture minister Dan Jørgensen, who said his decision was prompted by the fact existing bestiality laws were damaging the country’s reputation.
He told Ekstra Bladet: “I have decided that we should ban sex with animals. That is happening for numerous reasons. The most important is that in the vast majority of cases it is an attack against the animals.
Sex with animals - like this horse - will be illegal in Denmark, come 2015
“And under all circumstances, any doubts about it should go to the animals’ benefit. They naturally cannot say no to going along with it.
“Therefore, it should be banned.”
In April VICE.com shot a short documentary about bestiality and animal sex tourism in Denmark.
