Oscar Pistorius Judge Masipa Bamboozles Global Media With Meandering Sentence

Pistorius Judge's Meandering Sentence Totally Fooled The World's Media...

As the judge in the Oscar Pistorius trial sentenced the athlete for manslaughter, there was another drama taking place online as the world's media tripped over itself trying to follow her meandering announcement.

News outlets, including the Daily Mail, were forced to hastily delete tweets announcing Pistorius's sentence before it had actually been revealed.

In a one-hour speech, Judge Thokozile Masipa listed lengthy details of previous historic judgements to build up to her decision.

But many reporters mistakenly thought were Pistorius's sentence.

Some media jumped the gun and published tweets and stories saying that Pistorius had been given three years imprisonment - which was in fact the sentence for a similar case in one of the judge's many laborious examples.

The Mail Online later deleted its premature tweet

After the confusion subsided, Pistorius was asked to stand, and he was sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison for the manslaughter of Reeva Steenkamp.
