Harriet Harman silently mocked David Cameron during prime minister's questions today, by wearing a t-shirt carrying a feminist slogan.
On Monday, Cameron was criticised for having refused to wear the "This is what a feminist looks like" t-shirt. He had been asked to take part in Elle magazine's Rebranding Feminism campaign. Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg both agreed to wear the slogan. But the prime minister declined.
Elle's editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy said it was "a shame on so many levels", writing: "It seems the prime minister still has an issue with the word 'feminist'."
Harman sat through PMQs on Wednesday wearing the t-shirt - risking a rebuke from Commons authorities. In 2013, Green MP Caroline Lucas was told off by the chair of a Commons debate for wearing a t-shirt condemning "Page 3" of The Sun. She was told the top was against regulations and "may cause offence".
