‘Coronation Street’ actor Simon Gregson, who stars as Steve McDonald in the soap, has thrown storylines into chaos after coming down with a mystery illness, according to reports.
Simon’s character plays a central role in many of the soap’s main storylines, meaning that writers are now scrambling to explain Steve’s sudden absence.

A source has told The Sun that ‘Corrie’ bosses aren’t expecting him back on set “any time soon”, stating: “It’s a frightening time for him.
“He’s felt under the weather for a while, but it’s recently got worse.”
At present, Steve’s depression storyline is still developing and it is thought that producers were planning to develop the plot further in the New Year.
“The most important thing is Simon’s health,” the source continues. “He’s a great guy and gives everyone a lift on set.
“It’s a shock that he has had to pull out, especially when his character is so heavily involved in the storyline.”
Steve was also set to play a huge role in the first big ‘Corrie’ stunt of 2015, a minibus crash which will leave 12 of the soap’s characters injured.
