BBC sources have told The Sun that the mum of three feels it is far too early for her to return.
“Getting the gig on Strictly was a dream for Claudia, so it’s cruel that she has had to pull out when things were all going so well," a source told the newspaper.
“Matilda is taking great strides in her recovery, but a long way off being completely better and Claudia just doesn’t think it would be appropriate to be on stage being upbeat while her daughter is unwell.
At this stage she is refusing to put a time on when she’ll be back. She is going to give it as long as it takes and the BBC is being incredibly understanding.”
Eight-year-old Matilda was seriously injured when her Halloween costume caught fire whilst she was out trick-or-treating with a friends.
The cape she was wearing ignited after it came into contact with candles outside a houe, causing what one witness described as a "fireball" around the little girl.
The family later released a statement, saying: “She is having the best care possible and we are hopeful of a full recovery.”
Presenter Zoe Ball will stand in for Claudia again this weekend on 'Strictly' as the dance contest moves north to the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.
