Two of the North’s biggest exports look set to join forces next month, following reports that Mel B is to play a cameo role in ‘Coronation Street’.

The ‘X Factor’ judge will be making a special appearance in the soap as part of the Text Santa charity telethon, but it sounds like viewers hoping to see her unleashing her inner Scary Spice on the residents of ‘Corrie’ could be in for shock.
A source told The Sun: “It is a cameo but she will be playing a character who isn’t connected to her personally.
“It will be Mel - but not as we have seen her before. It is fair to say there will be a lot of walking along the cobbles.”
Mel B
We can only hope this means we can look forward to her playing bridge and sipping on an orange juice in the Rovers Return with Emily Bishop and Norris Cole.
‘Coronation Street’ already holds a special place in Mel’s heart. In 1993, before she hit the big time with the Spice Girls, she briefly appeared in the show as a shop worker.
A pal told the newspaper: “Mel has always loved Corrie. It was one of her first tastes of showbiz and she jumped at the chance of appearing in it again.”
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Michelle Keegan aka Tina McIntyre
And Mel isn’t the only judge on this year’s ‘X Factor’ to hit the cobbles - last year, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini made a surprise visit to Weatherfield as part of Text Santa, starring as herself, opposite Michelle Keegan’s character, Tina McIntyre, who had apparently been her secret BFF all along.
Cheryl was conspicuously absent from Tina’s funeral earlier this year, however. They obviously weren't as close as we thought.
