Benedict And Sophie Lead The Way At Independent Film Awards

Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancé Sophie Hunter stole the show at the Moet Independent Film Awards on Sunday evening, where they were joined by the ‘Sherlock’ actor’s ‘The Imitation Game’ co-stars.

The couple were looking suitably dapper for the swish event, which took place at London’s Old Billingsgate Market, with Benedict opting for a black suit, while Sophie donned a leather dress.

This is the second time Benedict and Sophie have made a public appearance together since announcing their engagement in the classifieds section of The Times.

Keira Knightley and Charles Dance were also in attendance at the event, along with a number of other screen stars, including Olivia Colman, Emma Thompson and Helen Mirren.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Benedict, and it was recently announced that he’ll be taking on the role of Doctor Strange, in a new Marvel film.

The actor spoke briefly about the role on the red carpet, telling Hey U Guys that it’s a “thrilling gig to get”.

Is anybody else feeling a bit panicked by Benedict's shoes being on the sofa?

During the main ceremony, Benedict was presented with the Variety Award, though he lost out to Brendan Gleeson in the battle for the Best Actor prize.

His ‘Sherlock’ co-star Andrew Scott was awarded the Best Supporting Actor accolade for his role in ‘Pride’.
