One Direction Singer Louis Tomlinson Slates 'The Voice' On Twitter: 'Badmouthing 'The X Factor' Is The Only Way They Can Get Promo'

1D Singer Louis Tomlinson Slates 'The Voice'

Louis Tomlinson has hit out at ‘The Voice’, claiming that it deliberately slates ‘The X Factor’ to create a buzz.

A new series of ‘The Voice’ kicks off this Saturday, with new judge Rita Ora recently claiming she chose the BBC series over ‘The X Factor’ because it’s more “respected” and allows its contestants to develop more as artists.

Louis - who found fame with his One Direction bandmates on ‘The X Factor’ back in 2010 - has accused ‘The Voice’ of “bad mouthing” ‘The X Factor’ to drum up publicity.

He went on to suggest that ‘The Voice’, now into its fourth series, couldn’t compete with Simon Cowell’s TV juggernaut, claiming it was “like Accrington Stanley trying to compete with Real Madrid” (which, we’re assuming, is some sort of football reference).

Over the past few series, several stars from yesteryear have tried to use ‘The Voice’ as an opportunity to breathe new life into their career, and this year’s is no exception, with none other than Bungle from ‘Rainbow’ (or, at least, the actor who played him) appearing in front of the judging panel.

He isn’t the only familiar face trying out, though, as Kym Marsh’s teenager daughter Emilie will also be seen in Saturday night’s episode, following in her former popstar mum’s footsteps.

Rita Ora and her fellow 'Voice' coaches

Rita will be joined by returning judges Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and will.i.am. She is taking over from Kylie Minogue, who left ‘The Voice’ last year, at the end of the third series.
