When it was confirmed that Katie Redford had been cast as Gail McIntyre’s 14-year-old granddaughter Bethany last week, the official press release said she was 19-years-old.

However, eagle-eyed soap fans have noticed a rather large discrepancy and an apparent cover-up over the actress’s real age.
Online profiles and public records show that Katie’s birthday is 2 March, 1989 - which makes her six years older than show bosses were apparently led to believe.
At 25, she is just six years younger than her screen mum, Sarah-Louise-Platt, played by Tina O’Brien, 31, who is set to return to ‘Corrie’ in the Spring.
Last week, ITV confirmed Katie’s casting, saying: “Nottingham-born Katie, 19, will debut as tearaway teenager Bethany this spring when she arrives unannounced in Weatherfield from her home in Milan.”
A former online CV for the actress listed her date of birth as 2 March 1989, whilst her Twitter username has changed from ‘katieredford89’ to ‘Katieredfordtlc’.
'Coronation Street' bosses have now confirmed that it will be investigating the discrepancy.
A show spokesperson said: “This matter has been brought to our attention over the weekend and we will be looking into it on Monday.”
