Awards season is officially in full swing, and on Sunday night, Hollywood’s A-listers gathered with the stars of the small screen to celebrate the best shows and films of the last 12 month at the SAG Awards.
In the film categories, a number of the movies tipped to win Oscars nabbed awards, with ‘Birdman’ taking the Cast Ensemble prize.
Is Eddie on track for an Oscar?
Eddie Redmayne added another gong to his mantelpiece, scooping the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor award for his role in ‘The Theory Of Everything’, while Patricia Arquette was awarded the Outstanding Female prize for ‘Boyhood’.
In the TV categories, ‘Orange Is The New Black’ scooped two prizes, with Uzo Aduba, who plays Crazy Eyes’, scooping the Outstanding Performance from a Female Actor in a Comedy Series award.
During her emotional acceptance speech, Uzo was nearly in tears as she thanked her castmates and crew.
"Oh my God. I really, truly do not know what to say," she said. "I just wanna say thank you so much to the Screen Actors Guild for this incredible honor. I want to thank Jenji Kohan for writing a show like this and putting something like this on television, not just for myself but for our incredible team of actors to be seen in such a beautiful way."
"I want to say a huge, massive thanks to our cast, without whom this is not possible."
‘OITNB’ also scooped the Outstanding Performance from an Ensemble Cast prize.
