Big Bang 'May Not Have Happened' Says Fringe Theory

A new model of quantum mechanics has suggested that the Big Bang might not have actually happened. It’s a fringe theory at this point — the vast majority of scientists agree that evidence (and general relativity theory) is in favour of a sudden expansion from a single point 13.8 billion years ago - but it’s an interesting thought.

Ahmed Farag Ali at Benha University and the Zewail City of Science and Technology, working with Saurya Das at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, write in a paper for Physics Letters B that it is possible to conceive of a universe with no beginning or end.

It’s a complex theory, so we suggest reading this survey at Phys.org after watching the below video introduction, rather than this fevered summary from American conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck’s website.
