For Sarah and Marc, who met and got engaged while working at the Vale Resort at Hensol Castle in south Wales in 2007, the venue was the perfect location for their August 2014 nuptials – and made for an idyllic backdrop, photographed by Kelly Weech.
While the couple didn't have a theme per se, they wanted a "simple, elegant and quite subtle" wedding with rustic touches in the decor, like bunting, painted crates, table lanterns and twine-covered jam jars with flowers as table centre-pieces.
"We definitely went for quite a traditional feel for the day that wouldn't look dated too quickly," explains Sarah, who stuck to a palette of white with pale pink and lilac accents.
Sarah's cap-sleeved lace dress by Mori Lee from All About Eve in Chepstow provided a motif for the day. Lace adorned the two-tier wedding cake, used with hessian and twine around napkins and decorating invitations and stationery, which the bride made herself.
"If you can't find the invitations you want then make your own," Sarah recommends.
"My mum and I made all of our stationery; it not only saved us money but also meant they looked exactly as we wanted. I loved doing them and have even thought about making a little business out of it!"
