A photo of a plus-sizewoman posing in swimwear has gone viral after the subject of the photo, Jessica Kane, challenged those who called her "brave".
Plus-size blogger and body confidence champion, Jessica Kane, posted a picture of herself in swimwear on Facebook earlier this week.
In response to the snap, many commented on the picture telling Kane how "brave" she was to bare all.
But the 35-year-old mum hit back saying: "THIS WAS NOT BRAVE."
Kane, who founded plus-size blog Life and Style of Jessica as well as plus-size magazine Skorch, questioned why people would call her "brave" for not wearing a coverup on the beach, as she doesn't consider it as an act of courage.
"I've been told how brave I am for not having a coverup, but going with out a wrap would only take bravery if I cared what others thought of me, but I don't," she wrote.
"I spend my time worrying about things I CAN control and this day, I was only thinking about how fab I felt and how much sun I was catching."
Her empowering message continued to highlight those who she considers truly brave: "Things that DO take bravery? A family battling tragic illness, a mother trying to beat addiction, a person trying to break free of domestic violence, reaching out for help when you have already planned your suicide and feel like you can't breath one more day.
"THAT is brave. Not wearing a swimsuit at the beach. LIVE life and only worry about what really matters."
Her powerful post has since garnered over 600,000 likes and has been shared 50,000 times.
