One Direction have been the first act to be confirmed for this year’s Capital Summertime Ball.

The four-piece will be taking to the stage at Wembley Stadium in London, on Saturday, 6 June, just a day after launching the UK leg of their ‘On The Road Again’ world tour in Cardiff.
So far, 1D are the only act confirmed for the event, which was announced during the Capital Breakfast Show on Monday morning.
Liam Payne said: “Wembley is obviously one of the best places to play in the world, so I'm well excited!”
However, given that they’re scheduled to play another gig in Cardiff that night, we’re guessing they’ll be on fairly early in the day.
More acts are due to be announced for the event on Wednesday morning, with Capital teasing this is their “most insane line-up… EVER”.
Last year, Miley Cyrus headlined the show with a typically raunchy routine, which included twerking, spitting… and a giant inflatable rubber duck. Because, well, why not?
Tickets for Capital’s Summertime Ball will go on sale this Friday (1 May), following a pre-sale for Vodafone customers on Wednesday (29 April).
The Capital Ball will mark the first time the boys will be performing in the UK capital without their former bandmate Zayn Malik, who quit the group last month.
The remaining members have insisted that they have every intention of continuing the band as a four-piece, and have even been teasing on Twitter that they’re currently working on their forthcoming fifth album.
