Hayley Tamaddon has announced that she is leaving ‘Coronation Street’ after two years with the soap.

Her role as Andrea Beckett was initially only meant to be a small one, but producers decided to extend the character and make her a love interest for Lloyd Mullaney.
She says: “I came into ‘Corrie’ for 3 months and have stayed for 2 years! I will be so sad to leave, I have had the best two years of my life here, it really is one big family. Everyone looks out for each other and I’ve made some incredible friends.”

So far, little is known about the storyline that will see Andrea leave the cobbles, other than that her departure will coincide with the live episode of ‘Corrie’, planned later this year to mark 60 years of ITV.
Producers have also confirmed that “the door will be left open for her return”, meaning the character probably isn’t being killed off (although you never know in Soapland, do you?).
Hayley adds: “I am excited about my exit storyline and the fact that it is part of the live episode. Corrie has given me a great platform to hopefully go on to work on other dramas but I’d never rule out a return to Weatherfield as I love it so much.
“I am looking forward to what the future holds but in the meantime there is still plenty more to be done here.”
Hayley is one of many soap stars leaving ‘Corrie’ in the next few months, with Amy Kelly and Katy Cavanagh both stepping down from their soap roles as Maddie and Julie, respectively.
