The Daily Star had printed a story on Sunday, with the headline “Alesha: I’m going back to Strictly”, which quoted her as saying: "I’d love to put on my dancing shoes. It was a fantastic part of my life – I still watch it and I love the show.
"It’s been a while since I left and my life has moved on but there’s no way I’d ever rule out going back."
But after seeing the story, Alesha - who replaced Arlene Phillips as a judge on the BBC show in 2009 - claimed that words had been put in her mouth, tweeting the journalist directly to say how “disappointed” she was.
“How are you allowed to get away with this? Making up lies, putting words in people's mouths, it's not cool.. #disappointed,” she wrote.
Alesha was a judge on 'Strictly' from 2009 - 2011
It came as Simon Cowell confirmed that Alesha will be invited back to the show as a judge next year, alongside Amanda Holden, David Walliams and himself.
“They care about them, and that’s what you want.”
Last night’s (31 May) final saw dancing dog act Jules O’Dwyer and Matisse triumph over magician Jamie Raven and Welsh choir Cor Glanaethwy to scoop a performance spot at the Royal Variety and a £250,000 cash prize.
