A waitress in Georgia has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make one of her customers a very happy man.
Don Thomas, 72, was in need of an organ transplant after he began to experience kidney failure due to cancer.
But much to his surprise, 22-year-old Hooters waitress Marianna Villarreal stepped in and offered to give him one of her kidneys.
Although Thomas has been a regular at the restaurant for 10 years, he and Villarreal didn't know each other that well when she made her offer - she had only started working at Hooters three months ago.
But Villarreal has said she felt compelled to help Thomas as soon as she heard about his ill health because her grandmother died from kidney failure last year.
"I wasn't able to do anything for my grandma, so if he can live two more years as the happiest he's ever been, that's completely fine by me," she says in the above video by Newsy.
The pair both went into surgery on Friday.
Writing on Twitter on Tuesday, Villarreal said she was "doing great" after the surgery.
"It's such a fast recovery that I'm amazed," she added. "I don't even take pain medicine anymore."
