‘Loose Women’ panellist Jamelia has become the latest star to be confirmed for the 2015 series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The star was one of the names rumoured to be taking part and the news has now been confirmed by the BBC’s Director of Television, Danny Cohen.
Jamelia
Jamelia has shared her joy at signing up, stating: “My girls are huge fans of 'Strictly' but when I told them I was doing it they laughed as they know that dancing is not my forté!
“The girls are amazing dancers though so I definitely want to learn a new skill so that I'll be able to give them a run for their money, and end them teasing me once and for all!”
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Jamelia had agreed to a stint in the jungle, however she’s changed her mind and opted to take on a talent show closer to home instead.
A source at the time hinted to The Sun that Jamelia would do well on the dancefloor, stating: “Jamelia is going to be a hot favourite right from the start. She’s stunning, has long legs and is experienced with dance routines because of her pop past.
“We expect her to be at the standard of Pixie Lott, who did really well last year.”
Well, Given Jamelia’s comments they might want to lower their expectations a little bit.
MORE 'STRICTLY':
The confirmation comes following Monday’s double bubble ‘Strictly’ news, when The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness and ‘One Show’ correspondent Anita Rani were both revealed as 2015 contestants.
They join boxer Anthony Ogogo, BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, ‘EastEnders’ actress Kellie Bright, singer Peter Andre, broadcaster Jeremy Vine and TV chef Ainsley Harriott on the line-up.
Former ‘Corrie’ star Georgia May Foote, singer Daniel O’Donnell and newsreader Katie Derham are also due to get their dancing shoes on and learn some new moves during the next few weeks.
‘Strictly’ returns to BBC1 on Saturday 5 September.
