A woman on death row has been given the chance to play with her granddaughter for what she says “may be the first and last time”.
Lindsay Sandiford was sentenced to death in Bali in January 2013 after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle £1.6 million worth of cocaine into the holiday island on May 19, 2012. The Gloucestershire grandmother admitted drug trafficking but claimed she was coerced over threats to her son's life.
The Mail on Sunday reported that the 59-year-old has finally had the chance to meet her two-year-old granddaughter Ayla after her family brought her to the infamous Kerobokan Prison.
She told the paper: “I know this may be the first and last time I ever hold my granddaughter.”
After the visit she added: “I’m so glad I had the chance to meet her. Ayla is the most important thing in my life and no one can take this away from me now. She’s an absolute delight – she’s the sweetest baby I’ve ever met.”
The pair were pictured playing together with a doll.

Sandiford’s family rushed to Bali after they were told that her execution date had been set as 21 September.
But her legal team was later told by officials that all executions were to be suspended until at least the end of the year, according to the Independent.
She must now try to raise the £25,000 needed to fund a final appeal against the death sentence.
