Over the weekend, it was claimed that Zoe “looked like a certainty” for the job, after doing a screen test for ‘Top Gear’ producers.

However, Chris has now dispelled the rumours, insisting that not only were they untrue, but also that no such screen test had even taken place.
Pity.
On Monday morning, he tweeted that the press reports were “hilariously inaccurate”, adding: “Re my good friend Zoe Ball excelling in ‘Top Gear’ screen test. She hasn't even been for one.”
Any Zoe Ball fans disappointed at the news may still have a glimmer of hope, though. Let’s not forget that Chris was quick to deny he had any involvement in the new series of ‘Top Gear’, right up until he was officially appointed as Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement back in June.
Shortly after being confirmed for the ‘Top Gear’ job, Chris revealed he was keen for a woman to join the show as his co-host.

Since then, Jodie Kidd, Sue Perkins and Suzi Perry have all been named as potential candidates for the presenting gig, though they have all since denied involvement in the show at some point or another.
‘Top Gear’ is thought to be returning in the new year, with reports suggesting it will act as direct competition to Jeremy Clarkson’s new Amazon Prime show, which he is co-hosting with former ‘Top Gear’ presenters, Richard Hammond and James May.
