Victoria Beckham recently admitted it was like a "dagger" through her heart when Harper said she wanted to play football, but now it's David Beckham's turn to feel downhearted about one of their children's career choices.
Beckham - who has four children Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10, and Harper, four, - has revealed how it felt when one of his sons told him he didn't want to play football.
Speaking to ABC News, the former professional footballer said: "One of my boys turned around to me the other day and said, ‘Daddy, you know, I’m not sure I want to play football all the time…’ It broke my heart a little bit."
Which son made the claim? Beckham didn't let on.
Beckham said his son's reason for not wanting to play football was because he was always referred to as "David Beckham's son".
His son told him: "If I’m not as good as you, then it’s not good enough."
But doting dad Beckham said he replied: "Ok, stop right there… You play because you want to play."
Beckham's oldest son Brooklyn left the Arsenal youth academy in February after failing to land a contract.
