Elderly Man Sings To 93-Year-Old Dying Wife, Breaks All Of Our Hearts

Tissues at the ready.

An elderly man has been filmed singing a love song to his dying wife in what is quite possibly the most heartwarming video we have ever seen.

The couple, 92-year-old Howard and 93-year-old Laura, have been married for 73 years and their love for one another is clearly as strong as it ever was.

When Howard visited his wife in a hospice, where she is spending her final days, the couple couldn't resist singing their favourite love song together. While Laura may be too weak to sing, she was able to speak the words to her beloved while he softly stroked her face.

Their granddaughter, Erin Solari, was lucky enough to capture the heartwarming moment and posted it on to Facebook where it quickly went viral.

"I was lucky enough to capture this precious, heart-melting moment between the two of them," she explained.

"Howard is singing to her their love song, the song that comforted her when he went away to fight in World War II. At family gatherings, it was not uncommon for the two of them to sing this song together, each taking a verse and serenading the other.

"In fact, after fifty years of marriage, they renewed their vows and performed this song as a duet for the entire family at the reception."

She added: "Moments before this video began, when Grandma heard that Grandpa was in the room, she asked if she could hold him. Grandpa cannot stand on his own, but he immediately pulled his wheelchair close to her bed ready to make it happen. My cousin, Serena, who is a physical therapist, helped him to his feet and held him up throughout the entire song."

Erin adds that Laura has macular degeneration, meaning she cannot see anything besides shadow and light. Meanwhile her grandfather has lost most of his hearing and the family need to repeat words for him as the grandmother is too weak to raise her voice.

Writing on YouTube Erin explains that her grandmother is now resting at home after being deemed well enough to leave the hospice.
