‘The Xtra Factor’ host Melvin Odoom has leapt to Nick Grimshaw’s defence, insisting that the criticism that has been thrown his way since joining the ‘X Factor’ panel is unjustified.

Earlier this year, the Radio 1 DJ joined the judging panel of the ITV talent show, alongside fellow new recruit Rita Ora, although his stint has so far received mixed reviews.
However, Melvin has claimed we’re going to see a whole new side to Grimmy once the show goes live later this month.

He tells the Daily Star: “When it comes to live shows, he's going to blow up. He's naturally a funny person, he hasn't had time to shine yet.
“The world is giving him a hard time but he's doing a great job.”
“For both of us it's the first time doing The X Factor and people don't like change. But I'm doing things to the best of my ability and so is Grimmy.”

Nick replaced Louis Walsh on the panel, who has been openly critical about him in the press.
Earlier this week, Louis raised eyebrows when he branded Nick a “bad booking”, adding: “He’s a nice enough guy but he’s like a groupie, you only ever see him with famous people.”
It was also recently claimed that Louis, who was with the show for 11 series before being ditched this year, could be about to make a return to ‘The X Factor’, once the live shows get underway.
He’s even expressed interest in coming back, telling the ‘Loose Women’ panel last week: "I talked to [Simon Cowell] last night. There is a possibility I might end up on the show… But I don’t know for definite. I’d like to. I’m available.”
