The Olympian and his professional partner, Ola Jordan, found themselves in the first dance-off of the series, alongside pop singer and ‘Loose Women’ presenter Jamelia, who both failed to impress the public with their routines.

It came as a surprise to precisely no one, when the judges decided to save Jamelia, particularly given Iwan’s performance in Saturday’s show, when his cha cha cha, to LMFAO’s hit ‘Sexy And I Know It’ didn’t exactly earn him unanimous praise.

Jamelia and Iwan were the least popular contestants with the public this week

Speaking in Sunday’s show, judge Craig Revel Horwood said: “This couple danced much better than the other couple: I save Jamelia and Tristan [MacManus].”

The rest of the judges followed suit, with the panel unanimously choosing to save Jamelia, and send Iwan packing.

Fortunately, he didn’t seem to have any hard feelings about being the first for the chop, telling presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman: “I’ve loved every minute of it! Thank you judges and to the contestants, you have all been so nice and I’m going to miss you all! I don’t want to go home!”

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues next weekend on BBC One.
