‘Strictly Come Dancing’ has had its first casualty of the new series, with the judges choosing to eliminate Iwan Thomas from the competition in Sunday (4 October) night’s show.

The Olympian and his professional partner, Ola Jordan, found themselves in the first dance-off of the series, alongside pop singer and ‘Loose Women’ presenter Jamelia, who both failed to impress the public with their routines.
It came as a surprise to precisely no one, when the judges decided to save Jamelia, particularly given Iwan’s performance in Saturday’s show, when his cha cha cha, to LMFAO’s hit ‘Sexy And I Know It’ didn’t exactly earn him unanimous praise.

Perhaps it was the fact he burst into an open-shirted break-dancing routine in the middle of it all. But then, who knows?
Speaking in Sunday’s show, judge Craig Revel Horwood said: “This couple danced much better than the other couple: I save Jamelia and Tristan [MacManus].”
The rest of the judges followed suit, with the panel unanimously choosing to save Jamelia, and send Iwan packing.

Fortunately, he didn’t seem to have any hard feelings about being the first for the chop, telling presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman: “I’ve loved every minute of it! Thank you judges and to the contestants, you have all been so nice and I’m going to miss you all! I don’t want to go home!”
Peter Andre currently remains at the top of the leaderboard, while former The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness was the highest scorer in Saturday night’s show, scooping 31 points for his waltz.
