Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has addressed a topic she normally dodges, opening up about her split from footballer Ashley Cole.
The former Girls Aloud star divorced Ashley back in 2010 following numerous reports claiming that he had been unfaithful, and she’s now spoken candidly about the split.

In an interview with InStyle magazine, Cheryl explains: “I coped in public and crumbled in private. It's growth, it's life. They say a good sailor would never be a good sailor if he hadn't experienced a rough sea."
The ‘X Factor’ judge also addresses the fact many people criticised her for taking Ashley back after some reports emerged, stating: "It's funny - those who didn't understand my actions at the time have now had that happen to them and they get it.
"A friend of mine told me her husband was having an affair and she said, 'I understand everything that must have been going through your head. But what I will never understand is how you had to face the world.' "
Wow. That’s quite philosophical for a Friday morning, isn’t it?
Cheryl and JB have been married since mid-2014
Since splitting from Ashley, Cheryl’s found love and got hitched again, marrying Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in secret last year.
When the couple’s new relationship status was discovered, Chezza admitted that she’d hoped fans wouldn’t find out quite so soon, stating: “I would’ve kept it [private and a secret] but unfortunately it was leaked. But I’m glad it’s out there.”
