Brad Pitt Praises Wife Angelina Jolie As She Discusses Ovary Removal Surgery In Joint Interview

Brad Praises Angelina In Emotional Joint Interview

Brad Pitt has praised his wife Angelina Jolie in an emotional joint interview, following her surgery to have her ovaries removed following a cancer scare.

Angelina previously detailed her decision to have ovaries and Fallopian tubes removed back in March, and during a US TV interview, Brad praised his wife for how she dealt with the health scare.

While discussing Angelina’s ovary surgery, and the double mastectomy she had in 2013, Brad said: “There was no vanity to my wife's approach. It was mature.

“There was a strength in that. It was just another one of those things in life that makes you tighter and she was doing it for the kids, and she was doing it for her family so we could be together.”

Ange had similarly kind words for her husband, stating: "I knew through the surgeries that he was on my side and that this wasn't something where I was gonna feel less of a woman because my husband wasn't going to let that happen.

"To face these issues together and speak about them and talk about what it is to be human, I think can be a beautiful thing."

Brad and Angelina are starring in their first movie together in 10 years

Angelina decided to have the surgery when she found that she has the defective BRCA1 gene, which significantly increases a woman’s chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Now, Angelina has stated that her surgery came following a pact between her mother, who died at the age of 56 after battling cancer, and her surgeon.

“The doctor that did my ovary surgery was my mother's doctor,” Angelina explained. “And apparently my mother had said to her, ‘Promise me you will take Angie's ovaries out.’

“So when we kind of got together, we both had a big cry, and she said, ‘I promised your mother, and I gotta do this.’”

Angelina's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who was also an actress, died at age 56 in 2007 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1999.

Angelina and Brad are currently promoting their new film, ‘By The Sea’, which was directed by the actress.

The second trailer for the movie was revealed earlier this week, and the film tells the story of a couple whose relationship has grown stale, who decide to take a trip together, in a last-ditch attempt at saving their marriage.
