Madeleine McCann News: German Child Killer May Be Questioned By UK Detectives

A German Serial Killer Could Be Quizzed Over Madeleine McCann

A German man who has confessed to killing two children could be investigated over the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, it has been reported.

The 32-year-old, known only as Silvio S, was arrested over the disappearance and death over a four-year-old migrant boy when he confessed to killing another child who went missing in July, Reuters reports.

According to the German media, the murders were sexually motivated.

In light of the developments, Scotland Yard detectives searching for Madeleine are monitoring the case closely, the Express reports.

It adds they are expected to ask their German counterparts to check if Silvio has ever been in Portugal.

Madeleine was three-years-old when she went missing from the family's holiday apartment in Portugal's Algarve on May 3 2007.

Silvio would have been 24 at the time of her disappearance.

Police told a press conference in Berlin on Friday that Silvio had admitted to killing both Mohamed Januzi, a Bosnian boy whose family was seeking asylum in Germany, and a six-year-old boy named Elias, who went missing from Potsdam earlier in the year.

He was arrested on Thursday after his mother tipped off police.

German media also reports police are investigating whether Silvio is linked to the disappearance of five-year-old Inga Gehricke, who went missing during a family picnic in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt in May.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “As a rule we don’t talk about who we talk to during the course of our investigations.”

The news comes as the force sharply cut the number of officers probing Madeleine’s disappearance to four.

At one point, 29 officers were involved in the investigation, which has not yet reached a conclusion and remains active.
