Max Stone and Monica Michael became the fifth and sixth contestants to be eliminated from ‘The X Factor’ on Sunday night.
Following his performance on Saturday night, Max received the fewest votes from the public, and was immediately eliminated from the competition during the results show.
Max learns it's the end of the road
After learning that he would not be continuing in the competition, Max told presenters Olly Murs and Caroline Flack: “I feel really lucky to have come this far… Maybe I needed a song that showed off my voice more, maybe I was ill, but it’s been great.”
Monica then had to perform in the sing-off against Anton Stephans, choosing to sing Beyoncé’s ‘Broken-Hearted Girl’, while Anton delivered an emotional rendition of ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’.

With Simon Cowell and Rita Ora each choosing to save their own acts, it was down to Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw to decide who would be packing their bags.
Despite not having much praise for Anton during this year’s live shows, Nick chose to save him, claiming his sing-off was more impressive than Monica’s, while Cheryl chose to send Anton home, as she felt Monica “has so much more to give”.
After taking it to deadlock, it was ultimately Monica who was sent home, though her departure was slightly eclipsed by an unfortunate blunder from Olly Murs, who prematurely announced who was leaving live on air.
Oh dear.
Monica and Max’s exits at this stage in the competition mean they’ve missed out on spots on the ‘X Factor’ tour next year, though the seven remaining acts will all be taking part.
