Just two days after an MP warned a train line was so unreliable that employers were refusing to consider job applicants who rely on it, a father tweeted at the company complaining his son had just missed a job opportunity - because of severe delays.
Will Quince, the Conservative representative for Colchester, wrote a letter on Wednesday, calling on an influential committee bosses to investigate the the Abellio Great Eastern Main Line over concerns there is "a very real risk to jobs from these continuing problems".
On Friday, one embattled commuter revealed his 17-year-old son had missed a job interview - and been refused a substitute one - after his train service was cancelled mid-journey.
However Abellio Great Eastern told the man there were plenty of opportunities at their company, after he enquired whether they had any part-time jobs going to make up for his loss.
The latest development comes after Quince publishing his letter on Twitter, lamenting the company's "poor service" and called for an investigation into its effect on employment opportunities in his constituency.
"There is a very real risk to jobs from these continuing problems," Quince wrote.
"I have received reports that some employers are refusing to consider applicants who commute in using Abellio Greater Anglia given the unreliability of the service."
The train operator apologised to customers for recent delays and said it was working to "improve performance".
The company received complaints on Tuesday afternoon when a signal problem closed the line between Chelmsford and Witham for more than three hours.
